SIA Convention, Hawaii, July 2012

July 12, 2012
Leaving Hamilton and Guelph for the first leg of our trip.
Our threesome are Flora and Aline from SI Guelph and Margaret  and Faye from SI Hamilton - Burlington (Faye came via NB and Florida). There were about 21 from Eastern Canada.
Some of our flights were delayed and / or cancelled. Not a good omen for Friday 13th
Faye travelled with none other than His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama.
When at last we got together, we took the first ship out - opps, we went on a Sunset cruise. We went on the Oahu Grand Circle Island evening cruise to see Diamondhead Lookout (a dormant volcano). This picture is not the best as we had reflection from the incoming sunset and the glare off the water...

Flora fiddles with her camera - we had to deal with glare off the water - while Peter looks over her shoulder.
View of the skyline.

Diamondhead in the background.

The dancers provided entertainment after dinner.

It is almost 8:30 pm and the sunset is breathtaking!

Aline and Peter toured the island with friends Barbara and Isumu. The entire trip takes two hours but ours took 12 hours! This flower blooms once and then dies.

Aline and Peter takes a tour of the island with Barbara. This is wild ginger.

Microwaves tower.

Magnificent Diamondhead...

Skyline.

Pali Lookout.

Waiting for the blowholes to push out a gushing fountain.

Isumu, Aline and Barbara - it was freezing cold! And oh, so windy...
